Valley National to Buy Bluevine for $340 Million

Published 29 September 2026

Valley National Bancorp has agreed to acquire Bluevine for $340 million, a deal the bank says will add about $2.1 billion in deposits, nearly 175,000 active small-business customers and digital banking technology. The transaction remains subject to closing conditions, and the deposits are expected to move from Bluevine’s partner bank to Valley after completion. The announced consideration is 75% cash and 25% Valley stock. Valley says Bluevine’s deposits, reported as of June 30, 2026, are generated through its digital platform and currently held at a partner bank. The companies have not provided a single consistent closing window: accounts of the announcement described a close in early 2027, the first half of 2027 and early in the first quarter. One account said the deposit transfer could follow closing by three to six months. Valley said the acquisition is intended to strengthen its funding mix, expand its small-business banking business and accelerate its digital and artificial-intelligence capabilities. Bluevine offers small businesses digital banking, payments, lending and financial-management tools.
