Utexo Plans October USDT Launch on Bitcoin
Utexo plans to launch Tether’s USDT stablecoin on Bitcoin in October 2026, using the RGB protocol to support transfers that keep most transaction details off the public blockchain. The launch has not been confirmed as operational. Utexo co-founder Viktor Ihnatiuk says the project holds a commercial license to issue USDT on Bitcoin. The proposed service is designed to let users send USDT privately, swap directly between USDT and bitcoin, and borrow against native bitcoin without moving it to another blockchain. Utexo says the initial deployment will be on Bitcoin’s mainnet, with support for the Lightning Network planned afterward. No exact launch date or confirmed exchange, wallet or payment-provider integrations have been announced in the reports. Utexo’s design combines RGB with Bitcoin’s unspent transaction output model, which tracks individual outputs from transactions. Under client-side validation, the parties to a transfer validate its details, while Bitcoin’s public ledger is used to establish ownership. The approach is intended to keep most transaction information off the public chain; its privacy and performance have not been demonstrated in a live service.
