Tether and Shiga Plan Self-Custodial Products for Africa, GCC

Published 30 September 2026

Tether and Shiga have announced plans to develop two self-custodial financial products for users and institutions across Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council, using Tether’s Wallet Development Kit. The products, ENTA and Pulse, have not been confirmed as launched, and the companies have not specified when they will become available. ENTA is intended for individuals and businesses, while Pulse is designed for banks, fintech companies and other institutional clients. Tether said ENTA users will be able to fund wallets with local currency, U.S. dollars or Bitcoin, then hold and transfer USD, Bitcoin and XAU, Tether’s tokenized gold. The announcement describes local currency as a funding method, not an asset held in the wallet. Pulse is planned as infrastructure institutions can adapt for payment corridors, treasury operations and settlement. Tether said clients will be able to use systems managed by Shiga or operate the software in their own environment. The companies have not named a bank or fintech that has agreed to deploy Pulse, nor identified an initial payment corridor.
