UK Police Make Seventh Arrest in RAF Fairford Inquiry
British counterterrorism police arrested a 22-year-old man in Westminster on October 6 on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, making him the seventh person detained in an investigation into a September 27 security incident near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The man, a British national, remained in custody as of October 6, police said. Counter Terrorism Policing said the investigation was ongoing and that officers were pursuing multiple lines of inquiry. Police also searched a property in Westminster in connection with the case but have not disclosed what, if anything, they found. Authorities have not publicly specified the suspected plot’s nature or described evidence linking it to a particular actor. The six men arrested before the latest suspect have been released on bail and remain under investigation, according to police. Five were arrested near RAF Fairford on September 27, and a sixth, a 25-year-old dual British-Iranian national, was arrested on October 1. In searches of vehicles associated with the initial arrests, police said they found petrol or another accelerant but no explosive devices.
