Trump Reviews Guilfoyle’s Future as Greece Ambassador

Published 13 October 2026

President Donald Trump said Monday that his administration is reviewing whether to remove Kimberly Guilfoyle as U.S. ambassador to Greece, but he did not announce a decision. Asked about the allegations against her, Trump said the administration was “looking at it” and “not happy.” The comments came as the administration weighs Guilfoyle’s future amid allegations of misconduct before and during her time in Athens. An anonymous U.S. official told the Associated Press a decision could come this week. The State Department has declined to comment publicly on a potential inspector general inquiry. The allegations include Eric Deters’s claim that Guilfoyle asked him to pay a $100,000 American Express bill before her 2025 Senate confirmation hearing in exchange for access to senior administration officials. Deters said he did not send the money and described the alleged arrangement as a quid pro quo. Guilfoyle’s lawyers dispute that account. They say Deters owed her for earlier speaking and consulting work, deny that she offered official access in return for payment, and say she followed State Department guidance on travel.
