Trump Questions Reports Netanyahu Received Oct. 7 Warnings

Published 1 October 2026

President Donald Trump said he did not believe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had received advance warnings about the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack, and declined to say whether Israeli voters should give Netanyahu another term. Trump made the comments in a Time interview conducted at the White House on September 28 and published October 1, as Israel prepared for an election scheduled for October 27. Trump said he had first heard reports of warnings during the interview. He reasoned that Netanyahu would have acted or placed Israeli forces on alert if he had known an attack was coming. The reports have referred to possible warnings from Egypt, and some have also mentioned the United Arab Emirates. The supplied accounts do not establish what warnings were sent, who received them or what Israeli officials knew before the attack. Netanyahu has denied receiving an Egyptian warning, according to one account. In a response on X reported after Trump’s comments, Netanyahu said Trump was right. The wider dispute in Israel includes competing claims about how security officials handled warning signs.
