Rabbi Steve Leder Rebukes Adam Brody Over Gaza Remarks

Published 1 October 2026

Rabbi Steve Leder publicly criticized actor Adam Brody after Brody said in a GQ interview that he believes Israel’s actions in Gaza amount to genocide and that he supports a free Palestine. Leder, a technical adviser on the first season of the Netflix series Nobody Wants This, disputed Brody’s characterization in a social media video and faulted him for using the term. Brody said he was speaking about the Israel-Gaza conflict when he expressed his view. He also said the deaths and suffering were awful and that he hoped another administration could change policies contributing to the situation. His remarks were attributed to a recent GQ interview. In his video, Leder said there was no genocide in Gaza and described Brody’s use of the word as a mischaracterization. He called Brody a relatively ignorant Jew and said that people should not speak about subjects they know nothing about. Leder also objected to what he characterized as a flippant use of the term. His statements were presented as his response to Brody, rather than as an independent legal assessment.
