Gaza officials report five killed in two Israeli strikes

Gaza health officials said two Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City on September 30 killed five Palestinians: four people in a vehicle strike in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood and a woman in a separate strike on an apartment. Reports gave conflicting casualty counts for the vehicle attack, while the Israeli military had not immediately commented on either strike. The vehicle strike also wounded people. One account, citing Gaza health officials, said 14 were injured; Gaza civil-defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said 20 people were wounded. The reports did not reconcile the difference. Bassal said the vehicle was carrying civilians and was struck by two missiles. Al-Shifa hospital said bodies and wounded people had arrived after a vehicle was hit in Tel al-Hawa. The death toll from that attack was also disputed. Gaza health officials were cited as saying four people were killed in the vehicle strike, while Bassal and an account attributed to Al-Shifa hospital reported five. The combined toll of five deaths across both strikes, including the woman killed in the apartment, was reported by Gaza health officials. The strikes came amid a ceasefire reached last October.
