Trump Predicts Loss in White House Press Ban Lawsuit

CNN, Politico and MS NOW filed a federal lawsuit on Monday challenging President Donald Trump's decision to ban their journalists from the White House, and the case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly, whom Trump appointed to the bench. Kelly set a hearing for Wednesday on the three outlets' motion for a temporary restraining order, which would restore their correspondents' credentials while the litigation proceeds. He has also given the White House until Tuesday to respond to the lawsuit. Before any ruling, Trump took to Truth Social on Monday to predict an unfavorable decision and said the administration would appeal. "In other words, almost without question and, as usual, we'll go for appeal," he wrote, adding that outlets producing negative coverage "shouldn't be allowed access to the most important Office anywhere in the World." He also noted that Kelly was "sadly, appointed by TRUMP" and previously ruled in favor of CNN's Jim Acosta. The dispute stems from a ban Trump announced on Friday. On Saturday, reporters for the three organizations said their hard passes no longer worked and they were denied entry.
