Former President Donald Trump on Monday dismissed warnings from leading artificial intelligence executives about the technology's potential risks as a "HOAX," framing calls for regulation as a threat to U.S. economic and national security interests. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump argued that industry leaders advocating for safeguards are acting against their own interests and that such rules could drive American companies into bankruptcy. Trump's comments came in response to recent statements from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Elon Musk, who have publicly urged Washington to establish stronger AI guardrails. They have cited concerns about the risk of losing control of AI systems, misuse for cyberattacks and bioterrorism, and serious economic disruption. "AI taking over the World, destroying Humanity, and all other things bad, is a HOAX, no different from RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE IMPEACHMENT HOAX 1 IMPEACHMENT HOAX 2," Trump wrote, comparing the AI safety debate to past political controversies.
