Apple launches macOS 27 with Gemini-powered Siri AI

Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate on September 14, 2026, introducing a new Siri AI experience powered by Google Gemini and a range of performance and design refinements. The update, which was announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June, is now available for download on compatible Macs. The centerpiece of the release is the revamped Siri, which now operates as a standalone app and is integrated system-wide. Developed in partnership with Google's Gemini model, the new assistant can pull information from the web and a user's personal context to provide answers. It can also interact with native and third-party apps and perform actions directly. Siri AI is available in English at launch, with support for additional languages planned for October. However, it will not be available in China or the European Union at launch due to regulatory issues. macOS 27 Golden Gate also marks a significant shift in hardware compatibility, as it drops support for Intel-based Macs entirely. The operating system requires an Apple Silicon Mac, with certain advanced AI features necessitating newer chips and more memory.
