Trump Bans Bombardier Jets From US Amid Trade War

President Donald Trump announced Monday that Canadian aerospace manufacturer Bombardier will be barred from selling its jets in the United States unless the company establishes manufacturing operations within the U.S., escalating a trade dispute between the two nations. Trump declared that Bombardier's products are "not good enough" and accused Canada of treating the U.S. as a "piggybank" while blocking American companies. He stated that over 50 percent of Bombardier's revenue comes from U.S. buyers and that the company relies on American companies, airports, and services. He also referenced a previous instance where Canada allegedly blocked Gulfstream Aerospace from doing business, calling it "completely unjust and unfair." Bombardier responded to the threat by emphasizing its significant U.S. footprint, noting that its workers are employed in more than 20 states and that its aircraft utilize American-made components, including engines and avionics from suppliers in Texas, Iowa, and Indiana.
