Canada Tariffs on US Goods Begin September 8

Canada is set to implement retaliatory tariffs on hundreds of U.S. products on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, escalating a trade dispute that has stalled negotiations between the two nations. The move comes as Prime Minister Mark Carney's government aims to pressure Washington into resuming talks, following the collapse of trade discussions on August 21. The new Canadian tariffs will range from 15% to 50% on approximately $27.6 billion worth of American goods.
