Trump Announces Federal Super Intelligence Force

Published 6 October 2026

President Donald Trump announced the creation of a federal Super Intelligence Force to coordinate the U.S. government’s engagement with the artificial intelligence sector and other groups, naming Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead it. The announcement was made Sunday, October 4, according to reports published the following day. Trump said the force would coordinate federal engagement with technology companies, consumers, public-interest and religious organizations, and providers of critical infrastructure. He described its purpose as helping the United States maintain leadership in advanced AI. The reports identify Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon technology official Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor as members. The group is expected to report to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The force is expected to deliver a report within 120 days, examining AI’s risks and opportunities and the federal government’s role. The review is also expected to consider existing laws, possible congressional action and how incidents such as security breaches, hacks and model jailbreaks are reported.
