The Trap Ends With Robert’s Confession and Lisa’s Role Unclear

Published 15 October 2026

Netflix’s six-episode German thriller The Trap ends with journalist Robert Lenzen admitting he stabbed Anna, but leaves unresolved whether her sister Lisa also inflicted two of the eight wounds described in the story. The finale confirms Robert’s involvement while withholding a definitive account of Anna’s death, keeping the possibility of Lisa’s role open. Lisa, a reclusive author who has spent nearly a decade trying to identify the man she remembers fleeing the scene, believes she recognizes Robert on television. She writes a novel inspired by Anna’s murder and invites him to her home for an interview, intending to make him reveal what happened. The confrontation turns into a struggle over whose account of the past can be trusted. Robert says he stabbed Anna six times. Lisa’s manuscript describes eight wounds, and Robert accuses her of causing the other two. The accusation is not confirmed by the finale. Robert has spent the encounter trying to undermine Lisa’s confidence in her memory, so his claim cannot by itself establish that she harmed Anna.
