Technics launches EAH-A1000 premium headphones

Technics has launched the EAH-A1000, its flagship wireless over-ear headphones, bringing a 40mm Magnetic Fluid Driver to a premium model priced at £399 in the UK and about $449 in the United States. The company says the headphones offer up to 45 hours of playback with noise cancellation on and LDAC off, or up to 90 hours with noise cancellation off. Early reviewers have praised the sound and comfort, but some say final firmware changes have limited their ability to assess performance fully. The driver adapts magnetic fluid technology used in Technics’ earbuds for a larger over-ear design. According to the company, the fluid between the voice coil and magnet helps control movement and reduce vibration and distortion. The headphones also use a carbon-fiber diaphragm and the company’s Symmetrical Surround Technology, which Technics says helps maintain even movement. These are manufacturer claims; the available reports do not include standardized comparative measurements. The EAH-A1000 supports adaptive active noise cancellation, LDAC wireless audio and lossless playback over USB. It also includes Dolby Atmos with head tracking and multipoint connections for up to three devices.
