Sui and Alibaba Cloud Plan Stablecoin Payments for AI Agents

Published 9 October 2026

Sui and Alibaba Cloud have announced a plan to let artificial intelligence agents pay for cloud services one request at a time using stablecoins, with spending confined to limits set by users. The integration was unveiled at Sui Basecamp in Singapore on October 7, but reports describing the plan say it remains under development and has no announced public launch date. The proposed arrangement would connect Alibaba Cloud services to Sui Agent Payments, a framework for agent transactions on the Sui network. A user would set a budget and spending limits in advance; an agent could then pay for individual cloud-service calls without seeking approval for every transaction. The plan’s appeal is to allow software to obtain computing or other cloud resources as needed while keeping its spending within a human-defined boundary. The announcement’s operational status is not settled in the supplied reporting. Most accounts describe a planned integration, while one report says cloud AI services were live through Sui Agent Payments on October 7. That account also gives technical implementation details not corroborated elsewhere.
