Oracle weighs trucked gas for delayed New Mexico campus
Oracle is considering truck-delivered natural gas as a temporary power source for Project Jupiter, its planned artificial intelligence campus in New Mexico, after delays to the pipeline intended to supply the site. The company has used trucked gas at other data center locations while waiting for permanent connections, according to reporting based on people familiar with the work. Oracle used truck-delivered natural gas for more than a year at a data center near Salt Lake City while pipeline construction and integration were pending. It is also using trucked gas for initial work at an OpenAI campus under development in Shackelford County, Texas. Those arrangements are described as temporary; the reporting does not establish that truck deliveries have begun at Project Jupiter. The campus was expected to receive gas through Energy Transfer LP’s Green Chile pipeline. The New Mexico State Land Office rejected the proposed route across state trust lands, delaying the project. The pipeline’s revised in-service target is February 1, 2027, compared with an original target of August 15, 2026, according to reports.
