Bloom Energy to Join S&P 500 After AI Power Rally

Published 10 September 2026

Bloom Energy is set to join the S&P 500 before trading begins on September 21, 2026, according to an announcement from S&P Dow Jones Indices that was part of the index's quarterly rebalancing. Shares rallied 7.35 percent immediately after the news, capping a run that has more than tripled the stock's price this year and lifted it roughly 360 percent over the past twelve months. The fuel cell maker has become a prominent supplier of onsite power for artificial intelligence data centers, a sector where access to electricity is a major constraint on how quickly infrastructure can scale. Chief Executive KR Sridhar said in the company's second-quarter earnings report that all major US hyperscalers and more than a dozen neoclouds, AI labs, and colocation operators have validated and approved its power solutions. The company reportedly delivered power to an Oracle data center in 55 days and holds a supply arrangement with Oracle covering up to 2.8 gigawatts of fuel cell installations. Financial results have accelerated alongside demand. Second-quarter revenue reached approximately $1.065 billion, up 165.
