Steam Sets Concurrent User Record With 43.5 Million Online

Published 12 October 2026

Steam reached a record 43,505,724 concurrent users on October 11, according to SteamDB figures cited in reports, setting a new high for Valve’s gaming platform and surpassing its previous 2026 peak. The milestone was recorded on Sunday, with users active on Steam both in games and elsewhere on the platform. One report said more than 14.3 million users were in-game during the weekend peak. The total concurrent-user figure represents the number of accounts online at the same time, not the number playing games. Reports citing SteamDB place the previous record at 42,686,616 in March. The October peak was therefore about 819,000 higher. Other reports described the earlier mark more generally as exceeding 42 million, and one said the new figure was more than one million above a January record. The specific March figure and the October count indicate a smaller increase than that description. The October record marks the second time Steam’s concurrent-user peak has risen in 2026. It also extends a longer upward trend: Steam exceeded 40 million concurrent users in March 2025, according to one account, after reaching more than 26 million in 2021.
