Sony to Skip CES 2027 After Decades at the Show

Published 29 September 2026

Sony will skip the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2027, ending a presence at the annual technology event that began with its inaugural 1967 edition. The company said its focus is evolving toward entertainment, intellectual property and technology that supports creators, while describing its approach to events and communications as subject to ongoing strategic review. The decision means Sony will not exhibit at CES 2027, according to a company spokesperson. No Sony affiliate is expected to exhibit either, the spokesperson said. Sony has not specified whether it will present products through another event or platform, and the available information does not establish whether particular product plans affected the decision. Sony had no standalone booth at CES 2026. Its presence was through Afeela, the electric-vehicle brand developed by its joint venture with Honda. Sony and Honda have said they would reassess the venture’s future after its planned electric-vehicle project unraveled. The venture’s current status is not clear from the companies’ reported statements. Sony’s participation in CES dates to the show’s start in 1967.
