Singer Sass Jordan dies as reports differ on her age

Published 4 October 2026

Canadian rock singer Sass Jordan died on October 2, her family announced, ending a career that spanned nearly four decades and included a Juno Award, a long-running role as a Canadian Idol judge and a catalogue of rock and blues recordings. Her age was reported inconsistently, with accounts saying either 63 or 65. The family announcement, relayed by her publicist, said she died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. A cause of death has not been released, according to the family spokesperson as reported in one account. Jordan’s solo debut, Tell Somebody, came out in 1988. The album’s title track gained attention in Canada, and she won the Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist the following year. She later received several nominations for Best Female Vocalist. Her 1992 album Racine included Make You a Believer and became a defining release in her career. Her work ranged from hard rock to blues. She released albums through the 1990s and 2000s, then returned to blues with Rebel Moon Blues in 2020 and Bitches Blues in 2022. The latter was her final studio album, according to career accounts. She also released a live recording in 2023.
