Sigma opens with praise for Kishan and mixed reviews

Published 3 October 2026

Sigma, the first feature directed by Jason Sanjay, opened in theatres on October 2, with early reactions divided over the film’s writing but often praising lead actor Sundeep Kishan’s performance. The action comedy follows a planned heist involving a large criminal operation, and the available reports provide no verified box-office totals or representative measure of audience response. Kishan plays Guru, a radio host and treasure hunter who becomes entangled with an underworld operation controlled by Kotlapadi Veeraiya Reddy, played by Sampath Raj. The plot turns on Guru assembling a crew for a heist after personal setbacks. Faria Abdullah plays Sam, while the cast also includes Raju Sundaram, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan and Yog Japee. Early reviews and social-media posts differ on whether the film succeeds overall. Some viewers described it as entertaining and praised its action, humour, music, twists and interval sequence. Others called the screenplay familiar, dated or predictable, and faulted the pacing and emotional development. Those reactions reflect selected reviews and posts rather than a comprehensive measure of audience opinion.
