Sicario 3 Moves Ahead With Original Stars Expected to Return
Black Label Media and Thunder Road are moving ahead with a third Sicario film, with Padraic McKinley attached to direct and Steven Knight writing the screenplay. Reports say Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin are expected to return, although their precise commitment status has not been established. Filming is planned for early 2027, but the project is not yet in production. The proposed sequel would bring Blunt back as Kate Macer, the FBI agent she played in the 2015 original, alongside del Toro and Brolin. Blunt did not appear in the 2018 follow-up, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which focused on the characters played by the two male leads. The third film’s plot has not been disclosed. Knight, whose credits include Peaky Blinders, is developing the script with McKinley. One report said the three actors had read Knight’s latest draft and agreed to return, while other accounts described them as set to return or in talks. The available reporting does not establish whether all three have signed contracts. The planned early-2027 filming window has been reported without a specific start date.
