Samsung Estimates Record 107.4 Trillion Won Quarterly Profit
Samsung Electronics estimated third-quarter operating profit at 107.4 trillion won and revenue at 195 trillion won, both company records, as strong demand for memory chips used in artificial-intelligence systems lifted results. The preliminary figures, announced October 8, put operating profit 782.5% above the same period a year earlier and revenue 127% higher. The operating-profit estimate is Samsung’s first quarterly figure above 100 trillion won and about 20% above its second-quarter result of 89.49 trillion won. It also exceeds the 106.1 trillion won consensus cited by analysts. Samsung said its preliminary figures would mark a fourth consecutive quarter of records for both revenue and operating profit. The results reflect elevated demand and prices for memory chips, including DRAM and NAND used in a range of electronics, as well as high-bandwidth memory chips used in AI data centers. Investment in AI infrastructure has increased demand for these components, while constrained supply has helped push prices higher. The company’s figures are preliminary estimates, rather than final reported results.
