Russian missile and drone attack kills at least 28 in Ukraine
A Russian missile-and-drone attack killed at least 28 people across Ukraine, Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said, as strikes damaged a residential building in Pryluky and killed civilians elsewhere. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said 100 people were injured nationwide. The reported death toll in Pryluky differs between accounts, with Chernihiv Governor Vyacheslav Chaus putting it at 20, including five children, while another report gave a total of 19. The heaviest reported losses were in Pryluky, in the northern Chernihiv region, where a missile struck a five-storey apartment building and several sections collapsed. Regional officials said about 55 people were wounded in the town. Rescuers worked through the rubble and brought 15 survivors out of the damaged building, according to reports describing the rescue effort. In the Kyiv area, prosecutors said falling drone debris killed two people in a suburb on Wednesday evening. Zelenskiy also said civilians died in Kyiv and in the central cities of Oleksandria and Kremenchuk. The reports did not provide a reconciled final count for the country or for Pryluky.
