Russian strikes kill at least 24 across Ukraine

Published 7 October 2026

Russian missiles and drones struck Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine overnight into Wednesday, October 7, killing at least 24 people and injuring dozens, Ukrainian officials said. Four children were among those killed. The deadliest reported strike hit a five-storey apartment building in Pryluky, where emergency services said 14 people, including four children, died and 50 were injured. Rescue workers continued searching the rubble in reports published Wednesday. The overall casualty toll varied with the period covered by official updates. Ukrainian authorities reported at least 24 people killed and around 60 injured in the overnight strikes. A separate tally covering attacks across the preceding 24 hours put the number injured at 134, while also recording at least 24 deaths. The broader injury count includes a longer observation window than the overnight figure. Deaths were also reported in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kremenchuk and Oleksandriia. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people were killed in the capital’s Darnytskyi district.
