Rs 5 Crore Fake Drugs Seized Near Bidadi

Karnataka authorities dismantled a major illegal pharmaceutical operation on August 18, 2026, seizing counterfeit medicines and materials valued at over Rs 5 crore from an unlicensed facility near Bidadi in Ramanagara district. The raid, conducted by the Drug Enforcement Wing of the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA), uncovered a sophisticated repackaging and relabeling scheme allegedly designed to mimic products of multinational pharmaceutical companies. According to officials, the operation was carried out at a farmhouse in Kurubarakerana Halli following a police tipoff. FDA Commissioner Srinivas K stated that the raid was conducted by a team accompanied by police. The premises were found to be operating without a valid drug license, where lower-cost medications were allegedly acquired and then repackaged to resemble expensive branded drugs. The seized stock included thousands of vials of injections such as Cefiavigent 2.5, Hizlam, Xavitaz, and Emblaveo, along with expired medications, injection-filling machinery, forged labels, and packaging materials. Labels of major companies, including Pfizer, were recovered.
