Ron Perlman Would Return for Hellboy 3 With del Toro

Published 15 October 2026

Ron Perlman says he would return as Hellboy only to make a third film with director Guillermo del Toro, completing the original trilogy. The actor said he would still take on the role even if the project came together when he was 86, but his remarks do not confirm that a film is in development or that del Toro has agreed to participate. Perlman, 76, said the two original movies were intended as a trilogy and that he would continue to advocate for the final installment. He said he was not interested in returning for another version of the character apart from completing the story with del Toro. He described the proposed third film as an epic adventure. Perlman said it would have addressed unresolved plotlines from Hellboy II: The Golden Army, including Liz Sherman’s pregnancy with twins and the prophecy that Hellboy was summoned to destroy the world. Asked whether he was still speaking with del Toro about Hellboy 3, Perlman declined to comment. No agreement, production plan or financing commitment for a third film was reported, and del Toro has not confirmed that he would return.
