Riyadh Airport Strike Prompts Evacuation as Trump Weighs US Role

Published 10 October 2026

A missile struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, prompting an evacuation and suspension of airport operations, according to regional officials. Several people were wounded, officials said. The attack’s perpetrator has not been confirmed. President Donald Trump said the United States was considering whether to join Saudi Arabia’s military strikes against Yemen’s Houthi rebels. He told reporters that his administration had recently learned of the attack and would make a decision. No decision to join the Saudi campaign or provide additional military support had been announced by the time of reporting. Two regional officials said the airport was attacked and evacuated. One said a missile hit a complex housing terminals 3 and 4, which handle domestic flights, and that several people were wounded. The officials spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. Saudi civil aviation authorities suspended airport operations while damage and injuries were assessed. An aviation notice said the suspension would remain in effect until midnight.
