India warns nationals as Riyadh flights are cancelled

Published 8 October 2026

India’s Embassy in Riyadh urged Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert, stay indoors when necessary and follow local authorities’ instructions as attacks and flight disruptions affected the kingdom. Airlines cancelled Riyadh services, with Air India and Air India Express suspending flights through October 10 and Akasa Air cancelling two services scheduled for October 8. In its advisory issued Thursday, October 8, the embassy also asked Indian nationals not to circulate or repost videos or news related to the events. It said the embassy in Riyadh and the Indian Consulate in Jeddah, including their outsourced services through VFS, were operating normally. The mission said it would issue further advisories as necessary. Saudi authorities said attacks over two days killed two people and injured 28 at Abha International Airport. They also reported one death and eight injuries in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. India condemned the attacks, saying the targeting of civilian infrastructure was unacceptable. The Houthi group claimed it had launched a ballistic missile at King Khalid International Airport.
