Pretorius’ 188 sets men’s T20 scoring record

Published 3 October 2026

Lhuan-dre Pretorius scored an unbeaten 188 for the Titans against the Knights, setting the highest individual score reported in men’s T20 cricket and helping his team win by 124 runs. The South African batter made 188 from 79 balls, with 15 fours and 13 sixes, surpassing Chris Gayle’s previous record of 175 not out. The match was reported as part of the CSA T20 Challenge and took place in Bloemfontein. Reports differ on whether it was played on October 2 or October 3, so the precise match date is unclear. One account used a different competition label, but the other reports identified the event as the CSA T20 Challenge. The Titans made 267 for 3 batting first. The Knights, chasing 268, were bowled out for 143, giving the Titans a 124-run victory. The Titans’ total was reported as the second highest in the competition, behind their 271 for 3 against the Knights in 2022. Pretorius passed Gayle’s unbeaten 175, scored for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013. Pretorius also moved beyond the previous top score in the CSA T20 Challenge, Dewald Brevis’s 162, made against the Knights in 2022.
