Police search for mother after newborn found in Bangor

North Wales Police are investigating after a member of the public reported finding the body of a newborn on the shoreline near Siliwen Road in Bangor, and are searching for the baby’s mother. The discovery was reported shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, police said. The circumstances of the baby’s death are not known. A Home Office postmortem was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, September 30, but no findings were available in reports published Tuesday. The coroner has been notified, according to police and health service accounts. Police are conducting searches along the shoreline and in the surrounding area, making house-to-house inquiries and reviewing CCTV. Officers and Coastguard personnel have been involved in shoreline searches, and residents may see an increased police presence in Bangor as inquiries continue. North Wales Police are working with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and other partners. Police and health officials have appealed to the mother to come forward so she can receive medical attention and support.
