Police report Hull training-ground road collision, no injuries

Published 1 October 2026

Humberside Police said emergency services responded to a single-vehicle collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at about 8:30 a.m. on October 1, with nobody injured. Reports linked the car to Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath, but the club had not confirmed that identification. Police did not identify the driver or describe what caused the collision. Images shared online showed a Mercedes on its side on the narrow road, which leads to Hull City’s training ground. The reports did not establish how the vehicle came to rest or provide further details about the circumstances. The incident followed a September 11 collision involving Hull winger Sorba Thomas on the same road. Thomas was reported to have escaped injury after his vehicle overturned. The two incidents occurred less than three weeks apart, though the police account of the October 1 collision did not connect it to the earlier crash beyond their shared location. A local councillor, Phil Redshaw, said he had written to Hull City’s club secretary asking the club to remind staff to drive carefully on the road. Redshaw cited residents’ concerns.
