Phillies beat Braves 4-3 to force decisive Game 3
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in 10 innings Wednesday, October 30, to tie their best-of-three National League Wild Card Series at one game apiece and force a decisive Game 3. Alec Bohm put Philadelphia ahead with a two-out solo home run in the 10th, and the Phillies held on to win at Truist Park in Atlanta. Philadelphia had trailed 3-1 after Atlanta scored twice in the seventh. Drake Baldwin doubled on a fly ball that glanced off Bryce Harper’s glove, bringing home Sean Murphy and giving the Braves a 2-1 lead. Harper was not charged with an error. Matt Olson followed with a sacrifice fly to extend Atlanta’s advantage. The Phillies answered in the eighth with consecutive solo home runs by Kyle Schwarber and Harper, tying the score at 3-3. Harper’s homer came an inning after the defensive play that helped Atlanta move in front. Bohm’s 10th-inning drive to right field, off reliever Didier Fuentes, supplied the winning run. Andrew Painter, who usually starts, covered the final three innings for Philadelphia without allowing a run. In the bottom of the 10th, Atlanta put runners on first and second with two outs.
