Olivia Rodrigo Says She Will Not Use AI in Her Music

Published 9 October 2026

Olivia Rodrigo says she will not use artificial intelligence in her music, describing her opposition as a firm boundary in a recent interview. The singer also recounted one experiment with producer Dan Nigro, when they asked ChatGPT for ideas for an Olivia Rodrigo song title and disliked the suggestions. “I would never use AI in any of my music,” Rodrigo said in the interview. She added that her answer was “Absolutely no” and a “hard line.” Her comments address the use of AI in her own creative work; they do not amount to a broader statement about every use of the technology in music. Rodrigo said the song-title prompt was the closest she and Nigro had come to using AI in her music. She described the ideas generated by ChatGPT as awful. The account and her opposition were reported from the same interview, rather than from separate statements by the singer. The remarks come amid continuing debate over generative AI in the music business, including disagreements about artists’ consent and the use of copyrighted material to train systems. Some musicians have spoken against AI-generated music, while others have explored the technology.
