Olivia Rodrigo Bought Meg White’s Elephant Cover Dress

Published 8 October 2026

Olivia Rodrigo bought the white dress Meg White wore on the cover of the White Stripes’ 2003 album Elephant and considered wearing it at her Daisy Chain Fields festival in August, but decided against it because of the heat, according to Rodrigo’s account. Auction records cited in reports put the May 2026 sale price at $25,600. Rodrigo discussed the purchase in an interview published October 7. She said she had hoped to wear the vintage dress during her set at the festival, held at Great Park in Irvine, California, but the weather was too hot. She suggested winter as a possible occasion to wear it, without confirming a plan to do so. Julien’s Auctions estimated the dress at $4,000 to $6,000 before the sale, according to reports citing the auction house’s listing. The reported final price was substantially higher. Rodrigo described the amount she spent as exorbitant. The dress was supplied for the Elephant photo shoot by musician Tracee Mae Miller, according to an account attributed to the auction house. Miller said she and Meg White drew on items from their own closets for photo shoots, and that she took the dress from her closet for the album image.
