Oasis Documentary Hits Cinemas After Venice Ovation

A new documentary charting Oasis's reunion has arrived in cinemas after premiering to an eight-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival. The film, Dont Look Back in Anger, follows Liam and Noel Gallagher through rehearsals and their Oasis Live 25 stadium tour, and features the first joint interview the brothers have given in roughly two decades, according to its directors. The documentary premiered at Venice on September 5, where the Gallaghers received the extended ovation, and was followed by a London premiere on September 7 attended by the band along with figures including Johnny Marr, Jack Grealish and members of Wolf Alice and Fontaines D.C. It opened in cinemas on September 9 and is due to stream on Disney+ later, though the platform has not confirmed a release date. Directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, whose previous credits include LCD Soundsystem's Shut Up and Play the Hits and Blur's No Distance Left to Run, said capturing the reunion required careful handling. The brothers had been estranged since Oasis split in 2009 following an altercation at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, where Noel quit the band.
