NVIDIA Shares Fall After High Despite Strong Results
NVIDIA shares retreated in early October after reaching a 52-week high, even as the company reported strong quarterly revenue and authorized a $150 billion share-repurchase program. The company also announced a five-year, $1 billion commitment to support U.S. scientific research. The reports do not establish that either the research commitment or insider sales caused the share decline. NVIDIA touched $243.37 on October 6, then fell over the following two sessions. On October 8, the stock was down nearly 2% intraday in one account, while another reported a closing price of $230.48, down 2.94%. The accounts reflect different observations during the session. The shares had risen roughly 25% to 28% year to date, according to one report. The pullback followed NVIDIA’s fiscal second-quarter 2027 results: revenue was about $96.22 billion, up roughly 106% from a year earlier. The company also authorized an additional $150 billion in buybacks on September 28. Those results and the authorization were reported alongside the share decline, but do not by themselves explain the market movement.
