Nixon Says She Wants Senate Rival Moody Jailed

Published 15 October 2026

Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon said she wants Republican Sen. Ashley Moody jailed and affirmed that position when asked directly during a televised interview, citing allegations involving $10 million from a Medicaid settlement. Nixon said she would call for an investigation if elected, but the reports supplied do not establish Moody’s personal responsibility for the alleged diversion, and she has not been charged in the matter. During the interview, host Kasie Hunt asked Nixon whether she wanted her Republican opponent locked up. Nixon answered yes, saying she wanted Moody punished in jail for what she had done. When Hunt asked whether Nixon had enough evidence to warrant that punishment, Nixon said she would seek an investigation as a federal lawmaker if she became a senator. Nixon alleged that $10 million intended for Medicaid-related purposes was redirected to political funds. She said the money went to two political action committees opposing ballot initiatives and accused Moody of involvement. Those statements were Nixon’s allegations, not findings establishing Moody’s guilt.
