The script for the next James Bond film is complete, screenwriter Steven Knight has confirmed, marking a major milestone for the franchise's upcoming reboot. The film, which will be the 26th in the official series, is being directed by Denis Villeneuve and produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman for Amazon MGM Studios. It will begin a new continuity following Daniel Craig's five-film tenure, which concluded with 2021's No Time to Die. Knight described writing the script as "more than a bucket list" moment, adding, "It feels like I'm doing my duty for the King and Country by taking this thing on." While the script's completion advances the project, the identity of the next actor to play 007 remains officially unconfirmed. The casting process has been the subject of intense speculation. Actor Gary Oldman recently stated he heard a rumor that a decision had been made but not announced, and he expressed hope that his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden would be chosen.
