Netflix Begins Production on Return to You

Netflix has begun production on Return to You, a romantic feature starring Lindsay Lohan and Henry Golding, the company announced. Mark Waters, who previously directed Lohan in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, is directing the film, which is set in 2008. Lohan will also produce the movie, with Brad Krevoy as a producer. Eric Champnella wrote the screenplay. Olivia Krevoy, Jimmy Townsend and Galen Fletcher are executive producers, according to reports about the project. The story follows a lonely attorney, played by Lohan, who mistakenly receives a DVD intended for a dying woman’s husband, played by Golding. The attorney uses clues from the recording to try to find him. Netflix’s published description identifies the DVD as central to the search; further plot details have not been announced. The production brings Lohan back together with Waters, who directed her in the 2003 comedy Freaky Friday and the 2004 film Mean Girls. Lohan returned to the role of Anna Coleman in the 2025 sequel Freakier Friday. Waters has also directed Netflix films including Hes All That, Mother of the Bride and La Dolce Villa.
