Neil Peart Documentary Trailer Released for September Premiere

The official trailer for a new documentary about the life of late Rush drummer Neil Peart has been released, offering an intimate look at the musician's career and personal struggles. Titled "Neil Peart: No One's Disciple," the 96-minute film is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 16, 2026, before a public release on September 19 and a broadcast on Canada's CBC network on September 23. Directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, the documentary features interviews with Peart's Rush bandmates, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, as well as reflections from fellow renowned drummers Stewart Copeland of The Police, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool's Danny Carey, and Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison. The trailer includes archival footage of Peart himself, along with new performances where Lee and Lifeson play Rush classics with the guest drummers. The film aims to provide a comprehensive tribute, covering Peart's rise to fame and his personal life, including the deaths of his first wife and daughter in the late 1990s. Lee and Lifeson explain in the trailer that Peart's death in January 2020 made an immediate tribute difficult.
