Musk Gives More Than $276 Million to Republican Groups
Elon Musk has given more than $276 million to Republican campaigns and political groups since July, including $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, according to figures confirmed by his political operation. The reported contributions make him the largest known donor in this year’s midterm contests. The total covers donations to political committees and campaigns from July onward. Musk’s team provided campaign-finance records, and a spokesperson for his political operation confirmed the aggregate figure. The reports rely on the same underlying information, rather than separate independent audits. The Senate Leadership Fund, the principal super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates, received $158 million, the largest named allocation. Musk also gave more than $76 million to America PAC, the political action committee he founded. The group is operating in seven Senate battleground states, according to the reported figures. Musk contributed another $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, which supports Texas Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton, according to one report. The Senate Leadership Fund is also spending heavily in the Texas Senate contest.
