Mo’unga and Fineanganofo out of both Bledisloe Tests
New Zealand flyhalf Richie Mo’unga and winger Fehi Fineanganofo will miss both Bledisloe Cup Tests against Australia after separate injuries, coach Dave Rennie confirmed. The absences leave the All Blacks without two backs ahead of the opening match at Eden Park in Auckland and the following week’s meeting in Sydney. New Zealand Rugby said Mo’unga tore a calf muscle during training on Tuesday. His return date has not been determined and will depend on his progress over the coming weeks. Rennie said Mo’unga had initially been selected in the starting XV, but would be unavailable for both Tests. The team had not named a replacement for him. Rennie selected Damian McKenzie at flyhalf and Beauden Barrett at fullback for the Eden Park match. He said the two players were interchangeable and could both take on playmaking responsibilities. McKenzie has played at fullback for New Zealand this year, while Barrett was assigned the No. 15 role for the match. Fineanganofo was injured while playing for Bay of Plenty against North Harbour in the final round of the NPC regular season.
