Metroid Ravenous Announced for Switch 2
Nintendo has officially revealed Metroid Ravenous, the next installment in the 2D Metroid series, slated for release on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game was showcased during Nintendo's September Direct event, featuring a trailer that establishes protagonist Samus Aran in a perilous survival situation. Metroid Ravenous continues the side-scrolling action formula familiar to fans of Metroid Dread. The trailer depicts Samus being attacked by unknown assailants and left stranded on a hostile moon. To survive, she appears to utilize a new gameplay mechanic involving absorbing the energy or life force of her enemies, a concept summarized by the tagline "It's eat or be eaten." The game also features Samus in a fully voiced role, a departure from her typically silent or sparingly voiced appearances in previous titles. Multiple reports indicate that Metroid Ravenous is scheduled to launch on January 28, 2027. This date has been widely reported across various sources, though one report suggests a release in 2028. The game is confirmed as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
