Mario Kart World Adds Classic Courses in Free Update

Published 9 September 2026

Nintendo has released a significant free update for its racing title Mario Kart World, adding 10 classic courses and new features. The Version 1.8.0 update, available as of September 9, 2026, brings beloved tracks from earlier installments of the Mario Kart series to the game at no additional cost to players. Among the classic courses reintroduced are Choco Island, Vanilla Lake, Ghost Valley, and Mario Circuit, all featuring iconic question mark panels for item collection. These tracks were reportedly already present within the game's open-world environment but are now fully playable in Versus mode. The update also introduces two new routes to the Knockout Tour mode: Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally. Knockout Tour, a mode introduced in Mario Kart World, functions similarly to a battle royale, eliminating players as the race progresses. Beyond new courses, the update enhances the multiplayer experience. A Spectator Mode has been implemented, allowing players to watch ongoing races or Knockout Tours without participating. Additionally, online and LAN play rooms have been expanded to accommodate up to 26 players, with a maximum of 24 participants actively racing.
