Jim Cummings Confirms He Will Not Voice Darkwing Duck in Disney Reboot

Veteran voice actor Jim Cummings, the original voice of Disney's Darkwing Duck, has revealed he will not reprise the role in the studio's long-developing reboot of the animated series. Cummings shared the news in a recent interview, stating that both he and fellow original cast member Terry McGovern are being replaced for the new project. Speaking to Collider at the premiere of the film Coyote vs. Acme, Cummings explained that he had recorded a pilot for the reboot "several years ago" to test its viability. He said the response was enthusiastic, but the production has since decided to recast the lead roles. "They are bringing it back, and they're hiring somebody else to do Terry McGovern's role of Launchpad, and they're hiring somebody else to be Darkwing Duck," Cummings stated. He added, "I hope they get everything they deserve. Crazy, I don't know what to tell you." The Darkwing Duck reboot was first announced in 2020, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg attached as executive producers through their Point Grey Pictures. The project has remained in development for several years with sporadic updates.
