iPhone Duo Owners Report Early Hinge-Area Screen Damage

Published 24 October 2026

Reports of inner-screen damage near the hinge have emerged shortly after Apple began selling its iPhone Duo, including an Australian owner’s account of a crack after fewer than 20 openings. The reports have not established a shared cause, a product-wide defect or how frequently such failures are occurring. The Australian user, posting on Reddit as uMidnight_Slump, said the screen cracked along the hinge after about six hours of ownership. The user described hearing a crack while opening the phone. Reddit moderators said they reviewed photographs and Apple documentation and verified the damaged device and subsequent service, but not what caused the damage. The owner said an Apple Store replaced the phone during a visit. The account also said Apple had offered an express replacement by phone, but the customer chose to go to a store. The replacement addressed that customer’s immediate problem; it did not determine why the original display failed. A separate Reddit user reported a dark line near the crease after about six hours and said Apple Support arranged an express replacement. That post was not moderator-verified in the information reported. Images of other damaged screens...
