INEC puts voter register at 103.4 million ahead of 2027
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the national voter register contains 103,428,715 people ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Lagos having the largest state roll at 7,488,633. INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan presented the figures in Abuja on October 6, after registration and biometric verification, according to accounts of his announcement. Kano was listed second with 6,570,276 registered voters, followed by Kaduna with 4,662,640. Katsina ranked fourth at 3,876,051. The reported top 10 also included Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun and Bauchi, each with more than 3 million registered voters. These state figures were attributed to Amupitan. INEC said men make up 53,528,218 voters, or 51.75% of the register, while women account for 49,900,497, or 48.25%. Voters aged 35 to 49 form the largest age group, with 43,265,946 people, representing 41.83% of the total. Those aged 18 to 34 number 29,777,576, or 28.79%. The register includes 232,658 people with disabilities across 10 categories, about 0.23% of registered voters, Amupitan said.
